OncoRNALab at Research Day of UGent
PhD fellows Elena and Thijs present their work at Research Day

On March 20th, UGent hosted its annual Research Day. Two PhD fellows from OncoRNALab, Elena Ramos Varas and Thijs Van der Snickt, had the opportunity to present their research to an audience of students, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, professors, and other experts.
Elena Ramos Varas is exploring the potential of blood microsamples for large-scale citizen science studies — research initiatives where everyday citizens actively contribute to scientific discoveries.
On the other hand, Thijs’s project is part of the interuniversity research project SOCan that aims to develop a novel photoelectrochemistry-based ‘SOCan technology’ for the fast detection of clinically relevant levels of nucleic acid cancer biomarkers in patient samples.
